I think where the user profile button is placed does not conform with UI/UX best practices. This is because users are used to seeing the profile button at the top right corner of most portals. When a user logs into the editor, the first thing the user checks is where their profile is with the mindset of profile edit or changing some settings, but when they don't find it, they begin searching. Others might feel the portal does not conform to what they are used to and might even want to logout.
