Stop renaming uploaded image files
complete

Any time I embed an image via the WYSIWYG, the name is changed to a numeric ID that is of no use to me. Even if I embed via URL, that location and file name is changed to the helpjuice storage naming convention, which is of no use to me whatsoever when all my carefully named files are changed. This is forcing me to embed images via the HTML editor, which takes more time.
I've seen other suggestions for sorting uploaded files, which I agree with, but I don't see the point when you're controlling those file names. Sorting through meaningless file names is not really much help.

Don't change the name when downloading files.

Downloaded files are getting a 70~ character string of fluff added to the front. Please just keep the original name.

Files Manager renaming uploaded images

Uploading an image directly to the Files Manager has started to rename the files as it does if you upload to an article (with a load of numbers at the start) - this didn't happen a couple of days ago & not being able to rename them makes it very irritating to add images as they are double the length.

We have noticed this as well if you upload a file it inputs a string of numbers at the front of the file, whereas if you drag and drop it does not do this.
A couple of potential solutions:
Easy fix is to give us the ability to rename files. This way if we are overwriting an image with a newer one, say, you can at least rename the old file to something else before uploading the new one, which would save the need to add a timestamp at the start of the filename.
The more complicated solution is to create 'versions' of attachments. E.g. you upload a file of the same name. The original file becomes version 1 and the second file becomes version 2. If you've referenced the file of that name, the image will update in your KB to the new one, but you now have ability to download previous versions and delete them if necessary. Here's what this looks like in our current KB

Probably a user key next to the Helpjuice key. The user can select on the user named key

I totally agree with it!

I never saw this as planned or in progress, but my image file names are now remaining intact. There's some Helpjuice storage information put at the front, as is standard, but my original file name is now kept at the end. This has helped a great deal!
